The froe is a simple tool used for splitting straight-grained wood. This hand-forged Swedish froe has a 12" iron blade fitted with an 18" hickory handle. In use, the thick, blunt blade is driven into your stock with wooden maul or heavy mallet, and the handle is pulled or pushed as needed to direct the split's runout. Weighs 4 lbs.
